THURSDAY!
Eljiah Burgher: Notes on the Application of Magick to Visual Art
Thursday 6/7 at 7:00pm
Contemporary Arts Center, Freeport McMoRan Theatre @ 900 Camp Street
Elijah Burgher is a Chicago-based artist whose work heavily incorporates the use of ritual and sigil magick into his practice. Often his work deals with queer identity and desire. For "Notes on the Application of Magick to Visual Art", Burgher will discuss the history of magick as it is related to the arts, citing examples such as Brion Gysin and William Burroughs' use of cut-ups to discover occult meaning. This free lecture is hosted by the CAC in conjunction with Press Street's Antenna Gallery as part of the show "Spaces." Contact: CAC Visual Arts Department @ (504)528-3805 or visualarts@cacno.org
